Etiology of Pressure Sores Medical research indicates that the average inner pressure of a human capillary vessel is 32 mmHg (see picture A). When external pressure exceeds 32 mmHg the blood will flow slower or even obstruct. If this condition persists, the cells inside the tissue will cause necrosis of the muscle. Pressure sores and ulceration will follow. People who stay in bed for extended periods of time without regular turning will readily develop a pressure sore. This condition usually occurs at specific bulge parts of bones (see picture B) e.g. head, shoulder, elbow, back, hip and ankle. |

Waterproof Top Cover The cover is made of durable nylon and polyurethane. Thus, it is soft to the skin and helps to prevent skin shear and friction. It can be readily removed for cleaning and sterilization. The covers also allows air ventilation for warm and hot air to pass thereby keeping patient's skin clean and dry. |
8 Inch diameter, Double Air Cells The air mattress has 20, deep flotation air cells which can be replaced individually if necessary. Internal air baffles help to maintain proper cell positions and support while minimizing the risk that the patient will "bottom-out". This patented "cell-within-a-cell" design assures that there will always be a minimal pressure base for the patient. In the event of power failure or while moving the bed, the cells will remain inflated and the tubing will be mechanically locked to prevent accidental air loss. |
Pressure Adjustable Switch The exclusively-designed pressure-adjusting switch is very convenient for caretakers. It can be adjusted according to the patient's need for softness. |
Low Pressure/Air Loss Warning LED The green LED stays lit during normal operation. The yellow LED warns caretakers indicating an air loss situation or low pressure hence, it will be lighted during inflation. |
CPR Valve for Emergency Air Release The specially-designed CPR valve facilitates rapid deflation in an emergency. In less than 20 seconds CPR can be performed on the patient. |
Alternating Waves As shown in the picture, "A" and "B" cell groups alternate every 4-8 minutes. This is controlled by the extremely quiet and vibration-free pump unlike conventional air pumps. |
Patented Soundless Air Chamber The chamber inside the pump is U.S. Patent #5669762 due to its almost soundless operation. Unlike conventional slip fittings, the special CPC Connectors assure constant air maintenance for the patient's safety and well being. |
